Joints are made by joining two molten pipe ends together under pressure. There are six steps to fusing pipe:

• Secure and clean the pipe
• Face the pipe ends
• Align the pipe profile
• Melt the pipe ends
• Join the two pipes together
• Hold under pressure while the pipe cools
